PostalOne! Transportation Management Program

The PostalOne! Transportation Management system offers advanced surface and air transportation assignments to route mail to the most timely transportation possible. The program is a Strategic Corporate Initiative with the overall objective of aligning customer and Postal Service production, acceptance, and distribution processes. The technology component of this program is a shipping system that scans tray labels, captures weight, and interfaces with the STARSHIP or Surface-Air Management System (S-AMS) for assignments.

The PostalOne! Transportation Management program was developed based on a two-phase approach. The first phase, Research and Development (R&D), focused on understanding and validating the concept. The second phase, National Deployment, will deploy a mixture of automated and desktop shipping systems to the top 100 First-Class Mail business customers nationwide. These deployments will be conducted in close coordination with Area and District personnel, customers, and vendors to identify, select, purchase, and deploy equipment to qualified customers.

Customers consistently indicate they want the Postal Service to meet service standards; improve speed, accuracy, and consistency of mail delivery; and provide value-added services. PostalOne! improves customer satisfaction by responding directly to these customer needs. PostalOne! will continue to work with industry to develop creative strategies to allow customers to participate in this innovative program.
